So what were your favourite albums/lps of the year? here are some of mine, those of you who know me will probbably know what sort of eclecticism will be here.

Dj Fresh, Kryptonite drum and bass/dubstep
mountain man, made the harbor. really nice alternative folk, just multi tracked vocal and guitar, lovely.

lost in the trees, all alone in an empty house. More folky stuff, a bit more instrumentation but some lovely classical sounding stuff on here too.

devendra banhart, what will be will be. What can I say? another amazing banhart weird folky album.

atless sound, bedroom data bank volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Progressive indi rock stuff, 4 albums of very inventive music.

dark dark dark, wild go. This might be my favourite out of the bunch, lovely mello folk rock, some very catchy tracks on it too.

best coast, crazy for you. An out and out pop album but very well written songs that are catchy and well done.

smoosh, withershins. Not sure how to discribe this, kind of indi folky stuff, you'd have to hear it...

the tallist man on earth, sometimes the blues is just a passing bird. An e.p with 5 very well written acoustic songs on it.

loudon waynrite (iii) songs for the new depression. This guy will never stop writing inventive, catchy folk songs, i swear.

I really could start an entire new topic for the amount of absolutely amazing electronic music that has been released this year, but i won't...

Good suggestions, I'll have to check them out.
I'd have to add "Everything Everything", an album called "Man Alive".
Ratatat also has a very good album called LP4 (not very original, I know, but really cool music).

i've heard of epica and think i quite liked them, though i think they'd sound better if they were a bit more proggy but hey, that's just me

thanks for the contributions

Post 11 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 22-Jan-2011 0:44:00

Three albums from 2010 that I thought were really awesome are:

Joe Satriani, black swans and wormhole wizards
avenged sevenfold, nightmare
and,
James laBrie, Static Impulse.
That last one being my favorite.

Post 12 by dj outrage (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Saturday, 22-Jan-2011 21:06:19

you're rite about the satriani. Never really got into avenged 7 fold, and havn't heard the last one so might check that out.

Yeah, it's a shame because his music is so amazing, but, hardly anyone ever hears it because he isn't top fourty material so to say. It's a shame what the corporate takeover of so many aspects of the music industry in the US has done to so many talented artists. Instead of hearing real music by real musicians, people get crap like Ke$ha shoved down their throats and she is laughing all the way to the bank, as is the president of her record company. Hopefully we'll get out of this slump at some point but who knows. But, that whole art verses entertainment debate is a huge can of worms so I'll stop my rant for the time being.

I hate hate hate hate the bullshit we're expected to believe is "music". What a shame, no wonder we're in such a sorry state. We eat that brainless ass goo up until our brains go numb and we fuck up everything we touch.
*coughs and stops being such a useless pessimist*
but it's true, or I wouldn't say it...

Post 15 by dj outrage (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Wednesday, 26-Jan-2011 3:55:58

Those that know me should know how i stand with that poppy gargar bs lol it's just crap, seriously.
I'm very eclectic, but that's just not music...

What i actually came here to say is the new bb dub cd, tribes at the temple of silence is absolutely amazing, ambient/downtempo/new age at it's best.

Post 16 by spfan15 (O&A Party Rock!!!) on Wednesday, 26-Jan-2011 9:20:17

my list:
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
jojo - Can't take that Away from me
T-Pain - Freaknik Soundtrack
And I think the best has to be
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fanticy

The production, rap style and his talent really shines on this alum. With contributions from Rihanna, Jay-Z, and John Ledgon to name a few, the album was a reat listen.

Omg Roooooooob, gimme. I actually didn't have many opinions on 2010...I wasn't paying attention to music that year, unless Rob was recommending it, because that was the only time I was going to find something interesting.

Post 18 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Saturday, 29-Jan-2011 14:51:21

Amazon has over 1000 albums for $5. The downloader is totally accessible, and there's a sublist of $5 albums released in 2010.

Post 19 by Villanelle from Wales (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 15-Feb-2011 17:48:03

oh some of you guys that have posted have such incredibly good music taste, and I use the term very losely lol! I would add the national's album to that list, blood buzz I think its called and also the arcade fire album the suburbs. outrage I've recently got really in to the dark dark dark-I do remember you recommending them! and also everything everything, definitely liking the weird vocals they have on their songs. I generally just listen to stuff on the radio and then youtube stuff I particularly like-I really need to buy more albums in order to appreciate and enjoy the music that I like to the max.

Post 20 by dj outrage (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Tuesday, 15-Feb-2011 20:00:02

it turns out that the dark dark dark album, wild go, isn't released in the uk until march, no wonder i couldn't find it! anyway, their website is lightlightlight.com if you wanted to get a coppy of it, amazing album.

that arcade fire album is pretty good, actually, you're rite there.

Post 21 by spfan15 (O&A Party Rock!!!) on Wednesday, 16-Feb-2011 8:47:21

Arcade fire won album of the year at the Grammys the other night. however, before they received that award, I heard their live performance and I wasn't impressed, at all.

Post 22 by dj outrage (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Wednesday, 16-Feb-2011 18:21:11

yeah the album is pretty good, over produced though i think so they are probbably a crappy live band.
